Magic Gate 04:47
I remember the days Remember the nights Down amongst the dead men Squinting at the lights I remember so well Forgotten by most Mysterious voices Listening to those ghosts Somebody passed me a key Opened a new way for me Why ever did I wait To pass through the magic gate Now it all becomes bright It all becomes clear Those glorious sunsets Walking without fear We can linger a while And drown in the sound Believe what you’re hearing Ringing all around
2.
A drive to the ocean, arrive at the sea A drive to the ocean, overwhelms me A fear of the water, in awe of the swell A wave of emotion, it’s so hard to tell You’re standing beside me, easing my fear ‘Just watch the horizon, I’ll always be near’ A fear of the water, in awe of the swell A wave of emotion, it’s so hard to tell Let’s move down to the coast now, and we’ll live by the sea the sand beneath our feet It’s just where we would want to be The sun is on the rise now, so finish up your tea Just grab your coat and go There is beauty there to see Let’s move down to the coast now, and we’ll live by the sea the sand beneath our feet It’s just where we would want to be We’re driving to the coast now, Arriving at the sea
3.
Unwind 04:09
I can feel the sweat It’s dripping from my brow The ropes and chains grow tighter so the skin begins to burn I can see my bones They’re glowing in the dark The moon is getting fuller and the tide is on the turn It becomes my calling to pull myself apart From the tightly knotted ball of wire that holds your beating heart To unwind is my pleasure To unwind at my leisure Is a long and lonely journey but we have to make a start There’s a gentle hum Now blowing in the wind It can’t be growing louder if I hide the sound within I can take a bow To deafening applause And disappear behind you as your head begins to spin

Pressure 04:13
Look up at the sky It’s the colour of my dreams You might see another hue It is never as it seems Look down to the ground At the stepping of my shoes If they fit you like a glove You can wear them like the blues All the way around the world are tiny sparkling lights That will shatter into clouds of dust and disappear from view Take some time to wonder Why the pressure that we’re under Glide across the earth On a fantasy machine You might like another ride It’s the best you’ve ever seen Run across the sand To a multicolour sea That is everything you wish That is made for you and me
6.
Aegean 02:49
The butterflies, the swallows, the pool and me The Cicadas, the beer, my book and me The heat, the view, the bluest sky and me The coast, the peace, my constant love and me The orange, blue, the purple red and me That perfect breeze, the shooting stars and me The islands, the green, the diamond sea and me This land, the peace, my darling love and me
7.
When it hit It sure hit hard Right between these weary eyes It jumped the tracks and took me by surprise It jumped the tracks and took me by surprise When it fell Into the void Far below all that is known It ate a piece of everything I owned It ate a piece of everything I owned When it rained It sure rained hard Drowned the life of mine within It stripped the touch and colour from my skin It stripped the touch and colour from my skin When it hurt It hurt so much Deep within my very soul soul It took the light from everything we know It took the light from everything we know A great big fool the size of a planet A target you could never ever miss The face you thought you always knew Is someone from another world

about

I was honoured to be asked by my good friend, John Sweeney, to contribute to an album he was making. It dawned on me after a while that perhaps I ought to make one, and to borrow his idea and ask lots of people to play on it. I got a bit carried away and started messaging famous, to me anyway, musicians I admire, to see if they would want to help. To my amazement, I had some success! So you will hear, amongst contributions from good friends, performances by the current bass player for YES, Billy Sherwood; Sin'Dogs and ex SAHB/Nazareth guitarist Zal Cleminson and Sepand Samzadeh from Days Between Stations.
