Kate sings of 50 words for snow We thought of 27 more The R1 had vanished in the white Resting, made angels in the snow The screen white, so many miles to go Hours pass, we see no other cars Fear wins, we turn and head for home The pink shade of sky will light the way Northern Lights hide behind the clouds
2.
The journey of my lifetime Has seen some friends slip far away Their music fills my memory I wish they’d stayed We stood on the stage And played it loud back in those days We thought we were the rock gods I wish they’d stayed So Brian tried, to put me straight On Palestine, to explain the hate And there was Keith, always the clown His keyboards sang, was never down So Trevor raged, against his pain His music screamed, time and again These were my friends, their loss profound And I’ll play on, I’ll make their sound
3.
Try as I might, I can’t get my bike up this hill The rain in my face, the wind slows my wheels My car’s broken down, I stand on the verge The rain in my face, reflects how I feel So I climb up the rigging, and reach for the highest mast In the hope that I’m seeing, my home where I’ll rest at last I don’t have those red shoes, I can’t click my heels and fly But I know I will be there, there’s no place like you I stand at the gate, my flight’s in the sky Despite my appeals, I’m not gonna fly The train’s broken down, wrong leaves on the track I stare at my watch, I need to get back

Thomas is the naughty one, lots of scrapes and so much fun Ivor struggles up that hill, Jones the Steam just drives him on Casey Jones he strode the West, on his Cannonball Express Stephenson’s the Rocket Man, laid the tracks , away he ran Through the steam my Daddy’s home!, railway children, they’re all fine, Orient Express she flies, likely death for those inside Blow the bridge, the river Kwai, watch the train fall through the sky One by one they meet their end as the train comes round the bend I remember the age of steam I remember the age of steam The essence of children’s dreams I remember the age of steam
5.
Arrived in the next town, things would be better for me Away from the memories, the pain searing misery I carry all I have, the clothes on my back this is it Those doors are all closed now, I’m done with that crazy shit Let me belong A room with a bath please, no bag I am travelling light I travel for business, left all of the pleasure behind Why ask the questions?, I’m giving you all that I can Just need to sleep now, then I can sort out my plan Let me belong Not all are welcome, my story would frighten them all Best kept a secret, it’s my life I’m making that call Arrived in the next town, things would be better for me Those doors are all closed now, I’m done with that crazy shit Let me belong

about

I couldn't quite come up with a concept album, but there is a theme running through all the songs: journeys, whether physical or in the mind. Let's go there!

credits

released February 18, 2022

All songs written by Stewart Clark and interpreted by all the wonderful musicans on the album.

Recorded at Creative Music Studios by Dave Shalloe.

Once again, I would be lost without the emotional support of Heather Clark and the musical support of Steve Scott and Ian McKenzie.
